John 5:17 – Jesus answered them, “My Father is still working, and I am working also.”
While we may sometimes feel that our lives are stuck, caught in the doldrums, we can rest assured that God is always working. When we are tired, He is working. When we are unmotivated, He is working. When we are struggling, He is working. Even when we are failing, He is working. (Of course we have much less trouble believing He is working when things are going well, by our definition, and we feel up about life.) “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). Parents do not notice the daily changes in their growing children, but earlier photographs testify to the progress. When the life of Jesus comes into a person, by the Holy Spirit, it cannot be defeated, will not be denied, will persevere, will prevail!
Find at least five counter-intuitive occasions today to declare, “God is working in this!”
